4 Stampede Players Listed on NHL Central Scouting Mid-Term Rankings

Four Sioux Falls Stampede players are listed on the NHL Central Scouting's Mid-Term Rankings for the 2011 NHL Draft. Goaltender Stephon Williams is the only current player listed. Former Stampede defenseman Jamie Oleksiak and affiliate players Mario Lucia and Kyle Rau are also listed.

The list includes 49 current USHL players and 13 USHL alumni as well as three affiliate players. Williams is ranked #32 amongst North America goaltenders and is one of eight USHL goalies listed. Oleksiak is ranked #27 amongst North American skaters while Lucia is #30 and Rau is #176.

Williams is in his first season with the Stampede and is putting up impressive numbers. He enters tonight's game with Tri-city with a 9-3-4 record, a 2.60 GAA and a .907 save percentage. Williams is 2-0-2 with a 2.61 GAA and a .917 save percentage in his last four starts.

Oleksiak is currently in his freshman season at Northeastern University where he has posted five points (2g, 3a) and a plus-7 rating in 18 games. Oleksiak recently participated with Team USA in their preliminary camp for the World Junior Championships. Last season, Oleksiak appeared in 24 games with the Stampede, posting four points (2g, 2a) and a plus-2 rating.

Lucia is an affiliate player of the Stampede and is currently skating at Wayzata High School in Minnesota where he is second on the team in scoring with 33 points (17g, 16a) in 14 games. Lucia tallied three points (1g, 2a) last night as Wayzata bounced Champlin Park 7-2. The Trojans are 12-2-0 on the season and are ranked #5 in Class AA.

Rau is in his senior season at Eden Prairie High School in Minnesota and leads the team in scoring with 29 points (16g, 13a) in 12 games. The Eagles are off to a 10-2-0 start and are the #1 ranked team in the state. Rau recorded two assists in a 4-2 win over Burnsville last night.

The mid-term rankings feature the top 210 skaters and 33 goaltenders in North America as well as the top 140 skaters and eight goaltenders from Europe. Central Scouting will release a final ranking prior to the draft which will take place June 24 and 25 at Excel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN.

The Stampede return to action tonight when they host the Tri-City Storm at the Sioux Falls Arena. Game time is set for 7:05 PM. It is also $1 beer night at the arena. Taps of Bud Light, Coors Light and Miller Light will be just a buck all night long. The Stampede are 13-10-4 on the season and will be looking for their third straight win.
