Chattanooga Red Wolves SC News Release
1. Red Wolves Back to Winning Ways with Three Points against Tormenta FC
CHI Memorial Stadium was all smiles on Wednesday night as the cardiac Red Wolves once again lived up to their namesake in what ended up being a thrilling 2-1 victory against the visitors from Statesboro. Man of the Match and Chattanooga's own Jonathan Ricketts starred in the match, picking up an assist and laying the foundation for what was a rock-solid Red Wolves backline. Juan Galindrez scored a goal to continue his fantastic month, which has seen him receive Team of the Week, Goal of the Week, and Player of the Month honors from USL League One. Rafa Mentzingen also made his mark in the match, scoring his first goal in a Red Wolves shirt heading home a brilliant cross from Marky Hernandez.
The match was controlled by the home side despite a moment of concern when Tormenta slotted home a penalty to tie the match in the 70th minute. The match showed how valuable depth is, as substitutes once again made the difference for the Red Wolves. Now tied at the top of the table with frontrunners Union Omaha and the Greenville Triumph, manager Jimmy Obleda will continue to be unafraid to rely on a bench that has been one of the most productive in all of USL League One. Now attention turns to the rematch at Globe Life Park in Arlington against North Texas SC, where the Red Wolves came out victors due to a first half goal from man of the match Jimmie Villalobos.
2. North Texas SC Back to Winning Ways Following win over Forward Madison FC
After securing only a point in their last 3 matches, manager Eric Quill got his side back firing in a big way with a 4-1 win at home against Forward Madison. 2 early goals in the first sixteen minutes of the match were followed up by a quick fire second half brace from Kazu, as the home side went on to secure three points. Now they host the Red Wolves in a match they will consider a must win as they attempt to begin their climb back up the USL League One table.
North Texas has been a side that has experienced its fair share of ups and downs throughout the campaign, notching spectacular wins while also taking bad losses on the chin. Of note, the side dispatched a very talented Greenville Triumph 3-0 at home, and led on the road against Richmond in the second half. However, they have also suffered a 4-0 loss to Greenville on the road and took a smacking from New England Revolution II 3-0 as well. The side will be looking for more consistent results as the season goes on and will welcome a second opportunity to face the Red Wolves at Globe Life Park where they have found success on the season.
3. What to Watch For and What to Expect Saturday Night
The match Saturday night will feature 6 of the 11 players named in USL League One's team of the week for week 14, featuring 4 from North Texas Sc's display against Forward Madison. In addition, Ricky Ruiz and Juan Galindrez feature following sensational performances over the two matches against Tucson and Tormenta.
North Texas sees two defenders in the eleven, after a brace from Kazu and a goal from defender Eddie Munjoma. Forward Gibran Rayo added his third goal of the campaign as well, as the side catapulted themselves back into good spirits at home.
The action kicks off from Globe Life Park in Arlington at 9 PM EST, as the Red Wolves look to put themselves at the top of the USL League one table against a confident North Texas SC.
