'3-D' to play for Ducks

Melbourne, Florida - The Brevard Blue Ducks announced today that NBA veteran and former Orlando Magic player, Dennis Scott will play for the Blue Ducks this season.

Playing most of his 12-year career with the Magic, Dennis also played for the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks and the Vancouver Grizzlies.

Known to his fans as "3-D" for his penchant for hitting 3-point shots, Dennis is the Magic all-time franchise leader in three-pointers made (981) and attempted (2,432) and ranks 3rd in points (6,603) and steals (429).

After being named College Player of the Year by the Sporting News after averaging 27.7 PPG as a junior for Georgia Tech in 1989-90, Dennis was drafted by the Magic in the first round as the fourth overall pick in the 1990 NBA draft. He was named to the 1990-91 NBA All-Rookie Team after averaging 15.7PPG and setting an NBA record for most 3-pointers in a season by a rookie with 125, while becoming the first Magic player in franchise history to win the NBA Player of the Week and Rookie of the Month honors.

One of the most prolific 3-point scorers in NBA history, Dennis made at least one 3-pointer in a Magic franchise-record 78 straight games over the '95-96 seasons. He set an NBA record for most 3-pointers in a single game (11) against the Atlanta Hawks on 4/18/96. In the 1996-97 season, he set an NBA single-season record with 267 three-pointers.

Dennis had his best season in 1991-92 when he averaged 19.9 points per game, ending in 2000 with a 12.9 PPG career average and 1214 3-pointers made.
