2019-20 Vancouver Warriors Team Awards

June 24, 2020 - National Lacrosse League (NLL) - Vancouver Warriors News Release

North Delta's Mitch Jones not only led the Warriors in goals (28), assists (46) and points 74, he was also second in NLL scoring. Jones was well on his way to setting career highs in assists and points before the league pause, as his 46 assists were just two off his career high, with five games still left on the schedule when play was halted.

"When we acquired Mitch two seasons ago, we knew that we were getting a dynamic player just entering the prime of his career," states Warriors General Manager Dan Richardson. "We have seen that improvement year over year with Mitch and see him becoming one of the elite players in the NLL."

Warriors Captain Matt Beers is the Vancouver Warriors top defender for the 2019-20 season.

Beers, who calls Maple Ridge home, led the team with 96 loose balls, was second on the team with fifteen caused turnovers, and also led the defense with 9 points (2 goals-7 assists). Beers also led the NLL in penalty minutes with 45.

"Matt Beers has a great skill set, but also plays with his heart on his sleeve, which makes him tougher to play against," says Warriors Head Coach Chris Gill. "Matt's passion for the game and quest for excellence make him a great choice for this award. He leads by example and tries to will his team to win every night."
