2017 CFL Draft First Round Recap

TORONTO -- With the first pick in the 2017 CFL Draft, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers selected defensive lineman Faith Ekakitie from the University of Iowa.

This marks back-to-back drafts that a player from University of Iowa has been selected in the first round. 2017, Faith Ekakitie and 2016, Tevaun Smith (8th overall, selected by Edmonton)

The last time a defensive lineman has been selected first overall was in 2013 when Hamilton selected Linden Gaydosh.

It's the first time since 2011 that the top-two selections came from the NCAA.

It was the first time in 24 years that no offensive linemen were selected in the first five picks.
