2012 Prospect League Post-Season Format Announced

June 27, 2012 - Prospect League (Prospect) News Release


Post-Season play will begin immediately following the conclusion of the regular season. The day following the end of the regular season play will feature divisional games, East and West Divisions, the 1st half winner v 2nd half winner or team with the best overall record in one team wins both halves. The 1st half winner will host the game.

The Divisional Winner will advance to the Championship Round.

The Championship Series is a best of 3 format. Following a travel day after the divisional games, the 1st game will be hosted by the team representing the All-Star Game losing division. A travel day will follow. Games 2 & 3 (if necessary) will be hosted by the team representing the All-Star Game division winner.

POST-SEASON PLAYER ELIGIBILTY

Players must be on the 26-man active roster at the end of the regular season must have played or pitched in a regular season game ten (10) days prior to the end of the regular season.

TIEBREAKERS

All ties will be settled on the following basis, in order:

"¢ Head-to-head competition

"¢ Head-to-head fewest runs allowed

"¢ Fewest runs allowed for the season

"¢ Flip of a coin by the Commissioner

THE SCHEDULE FOR 2012

July 1: End of the first half following games of July 1

July 28: Final Day for Players to be on the Play-Off/Championship Series Roster

August 6: End of the second half/end of regular season

August 7: Divisional Play-off Games at first half winner

August 8: Travel Day for Championship Series

August 9: Championship Series, Game One, at All-Star Game Division Loser

August 10: Travel Day

August 11: Championship Series, Game Two, at All-Star Game Division Winner

August 12: Championship Series, Game Three (if necessary) at All-Star Game Division Winner
