Windy City ThunderBolts News Release
With just two weeks to go in the Frontier League season, the ThunderBolts are making a serious push for their fifth playoff berth in the last six years. And with six games remaining at Standard Bank Stadium, fans will have the chance to watch the exciting race play out in front of them.
Windy City returns from a seven-game roadtrip on Tuesday, August 21, when they will be met by the second-place Gateway Grizzlies. The Grizzlies enter Tuesday's game only one game behind the ThunderBolts for the West Division lead. All three games of the Gateway series will begin at 7:05.
On Tuesday night, the ThunderBolts will be giving away free hats to the first 250 people through the gates. Every Tuesday home game during the season is also Ladies Night. Tickets for all females will be $5.00 on the day of the game, in-person at the box office.
The three-game set rolls on to Wednesday, when it will be a Boomer Gnome Bank giveaway. The first 1,000 fans will receive the banks, courtesy of First Midwest Bank. Like every Wednesday, there will be $1.00 hot dogs and soda and Advocate South Suburban Hospital will host a free health clinic on the concourse.
The series concludes on Thursday night with the ever-popular Bud Light Thirsty Thursday. Domestic draft beers are only $1.25 and domestic bottles are $2.25.
The final home series of the year commences on Tuesday, August 28, with three games against the Lake Erie Crushers. The Crushers begin Tuesday's action one game out of a playoff spot and only one game behind the ThunderBolts. Game one of that series will be a free t-shirt giveaway to the first 250 fans.
Game two on Wednesday is the final $1.00 day of the regular season and game three on Thursday is the last Thirsty Thursday on the regular schedule. Thursday night is also the final home game of the regular season and Fan Appreciation Night. There will be giveaways galore before the Bolts travel to River City to conclude the regular 96. All games in the Lake Erie series start at 7:05.
There will be a musical interlude between the final two homestands. On Saturday, August 25, Standard Bank Stadium will be hosting its first concert. American English, "A Beatles Tribute" will be going on at 7:00 p.m. The set list will include the entire 1965 Shea Stadium set, as well as hits from Sgt. Pepper and Get Back.
