2008 Tryout Camps Scheduled For Stockton, Hayward

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Lightning of the arenafootball2 league have announced tryout camps for the 2008 af2 season will be hosted by the Lightning in selected areas in the Northern California region, starting November 25.

The Lightning are scheduled to host tryout camps at the following locations: (all times PT)

11/25/07 - St. Mary's High School (Stockton, Calif.) - 10:00 a.m.

12/09/07 - Chabot College (Hayward, Calif.) - 10:00 a.m.

1/12/08 - Location TBA (Sacramento, Calif.) - 10:00 a.m.

2/9/08 - St. Mary's High School (Stockton, Calif.) - 10:00 a.m.

For the third year, local football talent hopeful of a start in professional football get their shot in Stockton, with the Lightning holding two tryout camps at Stockton St. Mary's High School on November 25, 2007 and February 9, 2008. Saint Mary's High School is located at 5648 North El Dorado Street in Stockton. The open workout session in the Bay Area is scheduled at Chabot College's football stadium on December 9, toward the northwest end of Chabot College's campus, located at 25555 Hesperian Boulevard, Hayward, Calif.

HOW TO REGISTER: Registration will begin for all participants at all camp locations begin at 10:00 a.m., with tryouts to follow at 11:00 a.m. A $40 fee (cash only) must be paid at time of registration.

Pre-registration is highly recommended. For information regarding pre-registration, please contact Assistant Head Coach Craig Lusiani at the Lightning offices at the above information. Lightning head coach Doug Murray will be on hand to conduct workouts and evaluate players.

The tryout will be a "pro-style" combine including:

- 40 yard dash

- 3 cone "L" drill

- Bench press

- Vertical jump

- 20 yard shuttle

Selected players will be invited to stay after the tryouts for position specific, non-contact scrimmaging. Each individual participant is expected to wear appropriate workout clothing, and is responsible for supplying his own football cleats (suitable for natural grass surface).

The 2008 af2 regular season schedule will be announced soon. Murray returns for his second season as Lightning Head Coach after the Lightning improved to a 6-10 record last year.
