Coastal Bend Aviators News Release
Robstown, TX - American Sports Entertainment, parent company of the Coastal Bend Aviators and Team General Manager, Bob Flanagan announced today that they have re-signed Chad Tredaway as the teams Director of Baseball Operations and John Harris as Field Manager for the 2007 season.
"Though we were disappointed at our inability to make the playoffs, we made some strides on the field last season and plan to build on those successes for the coming season" said Director of Baseball Operations, Chad Tredaway. "I think the organization as a whole is on a more stable footing with some of the changes that have been made. John and I are very happy with the level of cooperation we have been receiving and are very excited about the coming year."
Field Manager John Harris had this to say when asked about returning in 2007, "Well, of course I'm excited about coming back to the Coastal Bend area. I feel we have some unfinished business left to accomplish and working with Chad again and Bob for the full year I think we'll be able to get those things done."
Tredaway is well versed in putting together championship caliber teams. As a Field Manager he was able to compile a 249-140 record with the Edinburg Roadrunners and was named the Central Baseball League's Field Manager of the Year all four years he was in the dugout; while also claiming (2) Central Baseball League Championships (2001 & 2004). In 2001 he was named by Baseball America the Independent League Manager of the Year. Tredaway served as Director of Player Procurement for the Edinburg Roadrunners in 2005 before teaming up with the Aviators in 2006. Tredaway also had an extensive collegiate and professional playing career.
Harris, a success in his own right, has more than twenty years in professional baseball. He was a three-time collegiate All American while being selected by the California Angles in the 29th round of the 1976 Amateur Baseball Draft. He played for nine years, three of which were at the Major League level. Harris has managed in the Texas-Louisiana League, Central Baseball League and now the American Association, taking teams into the play-offs in 2003, 2004, and 2005. In 2003 and 2005 Harris' teams made it all the way to the League Championship Series.
Bringing Chad and John back together as a team was very important for the organization" said GM Bob Flanagan. "While wins and losses are a very important part of the equation and the most visible aspect to the public, there's a lot of behind the scene types of things that we require from our field staff and having worked together as we have, we've built up the comfort level and the trust needed to a point where we feel we can really move forward this season".
Chad Tredaway and John Harris will immediately begin putting together YOUR 2007 Aviator Baseball team.
The Coastal Bend Aviators play in the American Association, a professional minor league of baseball with clubs in St. Paul, MN, Sioux Falls, SD, Sioux City, IA, Lincoln, NE, St. Joseph, MO, Shreveport, LA, Pensacola, FL, El Paso and Forth Worth, TX.
