The Great Falls Baseball Club Foundation would like to announce that Willie Bloomquist will be the guest speaker for the November 3, 2006 Grand Slam Gala. Bloomquist is in his fifth season as a utility player for the Seattle Mariners. A shortstop by trade, Bloomquist has actually played in a number of positions for the Mariners. This season he has started over 30 games as the Mariners centerfielder while being listed as a third baseman.

Bloomquist was drafted out of high school in the 8th round of the 1996 draft by Seattle but chose to accept a scholarship to Arizona State University where he received both athletic and academic honors. The 28-year-old Bloomquist lives in Peoria, Arizona with his wife and young daughter.

The Grand Slam Gala will be held Friday, November 3rd in the Airport Panorama Room. There will be a VIP reception followed by dinner and silent auction. Tickets for the event will go on sale in October. Last years guest speaker, Jeff Nelson, is expected to be in attendance again this year.

Proceeds raised by the Baseball Foundation are used to support all levels of baseball in Great Falls. Little League, Legion, Babe Ruth and Minor League baseball organizations in the Great Falls community all received funds raised during last years Gala celebration.
