2005 Delaware Smash Announce Schedule

WILMINGTON, Del. (April 18, 2005) – The Delaware Smash begin the defense of the-2004 Eastern Conference title when the regular season of the 2005 World TeamTennis (WTT) Pro League presented by Advanta gets underway on Monday, July 4. The Smash open with a match against the Boston Lobsters at their home site, the AstraZeneca Tennis Facility in Wilmington, on July 6. The Smash play seven (7) home matches (home matches are in bold) and seven (7) times on the road during the 2005 WTT season, which runs July 4-24.

The 2005 Smash team is comprised of three newcomers, a returning fan favorite and one of the world's most successful and popular players. Venus Williams, a 4-time Grand Slam champion, makes her debut for the Smash on Wednesday, July 20. Her 2005 teammates include a trio of new faces, Wayne Odesnik, Robbie Koenig and Chanelle Scheepers, as well as returning fan favorite Liezel Huber who was part of Delaware's 2003 Championship team.

Marquee player visits include WTT veteran Martina Navratilova leading one of the League's new franchises, the Boston Lobsters, into Wilmington on July 6. Navratilova, who has won 58 Grand Slam titles in her illustrious career, is playing in her 17th season of WTT action.
