
14 Hits Carry M-Braves to 8-5 Win over Blue Wahoos

PENSACOLA, FL - The Mississippi Braves (45-48, 16-8) notched 14 hits in an 8-5 win over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (47-41, 12-12), snapping a four-game losing skid on Thursday night at Blue Wahoo Stadium.
The M-Braves scored in the first frame for the third straight game. Vaughn Grissom banged a double off the bottom of the left field wall to score Milligan and make it 1-0.
Grissom has now hit in 11 of 12 games for the M-Braves, going 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run. Atlanta's No. 4 prospect is hitting .380 with two home runs and nine RBI.
After a Hendrik Clementina sacrifice fly scored a run, Drew Lugbauer crushed two-run homer 419 feet, past the right field wall. The homer came off Lugbauer's bat at 111 miles per hour. The first baseman went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.
Lugbauer is the Southern League's active leader with 21 home runs. He has seven homers and 20 RBI in 20 games in July.
The M-Braves led 4-1 through three innings.
In the fourth, the M-Braves started the inning with three straight singles from Riley Delgado, Trey Harris and Cody Milligan. Then, Justin Dean smashed a two-run shot to left field to extend the lead to 7-1.
Milligan led off with a base hit for the third straight game and finished 3-for-5 with an RBI.
Harris went 2-for-5 with a double. In 12 games in July, Harris is batting .303 with four extra-base hits and three RBI.
RHP Allan Winans went four shutout innings in his first start for the M-Braves this season. The right-hander gave up just one hit and one walk with three strikeouts. Winans transferred from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, July 26 after returning from a rehab assignment with the FCL Braves.
Justin Dean smoked an RBI single into left center to make it 8-1. Dean went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI.
The M-Braves held on in the final three innings, overcoming four unanswered runs to win 8-5.
Justyn-Henry Malloy made an incredible diving catch in left field in the eighth to help the defensive effort. The outfielder pitched in his share at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a walk.

The fourth game of the series is on Friday at Blue Wahoos Stadium. RHP Darius Vines (5-4, 4.31) makes the start for Mississippi against RHP Zach McCambley (5-5, 5.31) for Pensacola. The first pitch is at 6:35 pm CT, with coverage starting at 6:20 pm CT on 103.9 WYAB, First Pitch App and MiLB.tv.
