12 players selected in 2005 Northern League Tryout Camp Draft

The Northern League announced today that 12 players were selected by eight clubs in the league's 2005 Tryout Camp Draft.

Approximately 170 players participated in the first morning of the camp on Monday at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona. That number was reduced to 75 for the Monday afternoon session and to 40 for the Tuesday morning simulated game.

Former major league pitchers Darren Hall and Mike Henneman conducted the camp, which was attended by league managers and coaches.

Two trades were completed prior to today's draft. St. Paul acquired the second pick in the first round from Edmonton in exchange for the Saints first pick in the 2006 draft. Winnipeg acquired the fourth pick in the first round from Sioux Falls to complete an earlier trade.

Northern League teams open training camp on Thursday, May 5. The league begins its 13th season and 96-game schedule on Friday, May 20.
