JOLIET, IL â What makes Joliet Jackhammers games fun? Take a look at all the great things the JackHammers have going on this week at Silver Cross Field to find out. The JackHammers return to Silver Cross Field on Thursday, July 25 for three games versus the Lincoln Saltdogs followed by a Sunday day off. Then, the JackHammers host the first half Northern League Central Southern Division Champion Sioux City Explorers for three games followed by the Gary SouthShore RailCats for four games. Game times are 7:05 PM on week days, 6:05 PM on Saturdays and 2:05 PM on Sundays.
On Thursday, July 25th, the first 500 JackHammers fans age 18 and over will receive a T-shirt compliments of Balmoral Park. Throughout the game, there will be other great Balmoral Park giveaways.
After Friday's fun-filled game on July 26th, the JackHammers end the home stand with special guests and an inaugural season pennant giveaway. The Zooperstars will be returning to Silver Cross Field to entertain fans with their crazy antics and funny skits. Also, the first 1,500 fans through the gates will receive an inaugural season pennant from Gift of Hope Organ Donor and Tissue Program.
Monday, July 29th, is "pay what you want" at Silver Cross Field. The JackHammers want to know what the fans think a baseball game is worth. Fans will enter into Silver Cross Field at no charge and will be able to pay during or after the game what they felt the game and entertainment was worth. Monday night is also "Dollar Dog Night." Clip the coupon in the Herald News and present it at the concessions stands of Silver Cross Field in order to purchase a hot dog for a dollar (limit of four dollar dogs per coupon).
Tuesday, July 30th, is Halloween in July! Fans are encouraged to dig out those costumes and wear them to Silver Cross Field for the evening. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes and, of course, there will be lots of candy. The JackHammers front office staff will be in costume for the evening, compliments of Josie O'Kains Costume and Theatre Shop. Kids can also run the bases after the game. Tuesday also means it's "Two for Tuesday." Two General Admission tickets can be purchased for the price of one in advance or on the day of the game.
Wednesday, July 31st, is the JackHammers Firefighter Salute. Outside the stadium the firefighters will have a smoke house to teach kids the importance of fire safety along with "Freddy the Fire truck". The first 1,000 kids age 12 and under through the gates will receive coloring books and fireman hats.
On Thursday, August 1st, there will be post-game fireworks at Silver Cross Field!
Friday, August 2nd, is cap giveaway number 2. The first 1,000 kids ages 12 and under will receive a great looking cap, compliments of the Will County Chapter of Credit Unions.
On Saturday, August 3rd, Myron Noodleman, the king of the nerds will be at Silver Cross Field to entertain fans of all ages.
Wrapping up the home stand on Sunday, August 4th, the first 1,000 kids ages 12 and under will receive their very own Matt Nokes Bobblehead doll, compliments of Aramark. Along with the great giveaway, it is Bill Jacobs Family Day at Silver Cross Field. After the game, families are invited down on the field for a post-game autograph session and kids can run the bases.
