This Saturday, April 12th YOUR Marion Blue Racers (6-1) are going on the road for the biggest game of the season! They will take on the undefeated, 2012 CIFL Champion Sag inaw Sting (7-0) at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw, MI. This game decides who will hold the overall top spot in the Continental Indoor Football League. Fortunately, the Blue Racers have already been through some tough battles this season, taking on the 2013 CIFL Champion Erie Explosion at home and on the road, the Northern Kentucky River Monsters at home, and the Dayton Sharks at home and on the road. The Erie Explosion are (6-2) and 2nd in the CIFL North, the Northern Kentucky River Monsters are (5-3) and 2nd in the CIFL South, and the Dayton Sharks are (4-3) and 3rd in the CIFL South.
"This is the game that we've been preparing for all season. We've taken on the best teams in the CIFL so this Saturday will determine if we're really worthy of being #1 in the league," said GM and Head Coach LaMonte Coleman. Some quality additions have been made to the roster with the signings of veteran QB Chris Wallace, LB/DL Gaines Burnett, and 2013 All CIFL First Team DL Will Haase. The additions are key for this game, but more specifically in order to solidify an already quality roster as the team continues their quest to win the 2014 CIFL Championship. On Saturday, April 5 against the Dayton Sharks in Dayton, OH, these new additions showed their worth with Chris Wallace passing for 174 yards and 4 touchdowns, Gaines Burnett recording 3 tackles, and Will Haase helped the defensive line to put pressure on the Dayton quarterback, causing an interception caught by DB Steve Witherspoon.
The Dow Event Center is located at 303 Johnson Street, Saginaw, MI 48607 and the game kicks off at 7:30pm this Saturday, April 12th.
