Windy City Bulls Stumble against Long Island Despite 27 Points From Denzel Valentine

Brooklyn, NY- The Windy City Bulls (10-16), presented by BMO Harris Bank, the official NBA Development League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, fell 117-109 in an afternoon matinee to the Long Island Nets on Wednesday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Denzel Valentine, on assignment from the Chicago Bulls, paced Windy City with 27 points, 19 of which came in the fourth quarter. He also added 10 rebounds and five assists. Portland Trail Blazers assignment Jake Layman added 23 points and six rebounds while recently acquired Duje Dukan scored 15 points in his Windy City Bulls debut.

Long Island (12-19) was led by Brooklyn Nets assignment Chris McCullough who scored 23 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Trahson Burrell added 20 points and seven assists for the Nets.

After a back-and-forth first half that featured six ties and 10 lead changes, Long Island jumped out to a 74-65 lead late in the third quarter.

Valentine, who connected on five three-pointers in the fourth period, drained a three point shot to make the score 108-105 with just over two minutes remaining in the game. However, McCullough quickly answered with a basket for Long Island to help the Nets extend their lead and hold on for the victory.

The Nets attempted 28 free throws in the contest compared to just nine by Windy City.

The Bulls will resume action on their East Coast road swing this Friday and Saturday against the Westchester Knicks before returning home on Tuesday, Feb.7 against the Grand Rapids Drive for Luvabulls Night at the Sears Centre. For more information visit WindyCityBulls.com.
