Vipers Strike in Second Half

HIDALGO, TX-The Texas Legends (25-24) struggled in the second half, falling to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (31-18) 122-131 Thursday night in Hidalgo.

The two teams stayed within seven points of each other through the first half, with seven lead changes and 13 ties. Texas shot 54% and saw a combined 38-point effort from Jameel Warney, Stephane Lasme, and Manny Harris. The Vipers shot 48% overall but doubled Texas' outside shots and the two teams entered the half even at 63-all.

The tide turned in favor of the home team in the third as the Vipers outshot and outscored the Legends, taking a 99-91 lead into the fourth. Texas' struggles continued in the final minutes as they shot 39% to RGV's 48%. The Vipers pulled up by as many as 16, but the Legends shortened the deficit back to single digits before the final buzzer.

Warney led the Legends with his 15th double-double of 29 points, 11 rebounds. The League's leading scorer, Harris, came off the bench in his first game back with the team and added 28 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Lasme (16 points, 8 rebounds) and CJ Williams (12 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals) rounded off the Legends' double-digit scoring.

Isaiah Taylor powered the Vipers with 30 points, 6 assists while Troy Williams added 23 points, 8 rebounds.
