West Texas Roughnecks News Release

The Odessa Roughnecks proudly announced the return of quarterback Tommy Jones today. Jones will join the team tomorrow night and is expected to play a portion of the game behind Dennis Gile this Saturday as the Roughnecks host the visiting Fairbanks Grizzlies.

At 6' 3" tall and 230 lbs, Coach Williams had this to say about today's signing, "Tommy is a phenomenal athlete and great leader and we are very pleased that he is returning. With both Tommy and Dennis in the line up, I expect great things for our team down the stretch." Jones makes his third trip to the Roughnecks after playing two regular season games and participating in the playoffs last season and starting every game during the 2006 season including leading Odessa to their first Intense Bowl Championship. Most recently, Jones lead the Mississippi MudCats of the American Indoor Football Association to a 11-1 record through 12 games this season and a 12-2 record with a deep playoff run during the 2007 season.

Jones has also been active in higher leagues since graduating from Indiana University five years ago. " I am thrilled to be in a place where I have stability and there are great coaches." Remarked Jones, " I am here to help win football games and assist the team in any way I can off the field."
