Thunder Won't Raise Ticket Prices In 2009
June 19, 2008 - Intense Football League (Intense)
Frisco Thunder News Release
Committed to providing family entertainment at affordable prices, Frisco Thunder owners Jake and Vinita Reed announced today that tickets prices WILL NOT INCREASE when the Intense Football League team returns for the 2009 season.
For as little as $10 - THE SAME PRICE AS IN 2008 - football fans in the Collin County area can experience fast-paced indoor football as well as in-game entertainment and the opportunity to meet and greet players on the Deja Blue Arena field afterwards.
"With gas prices rising and the general cost of living increasing, families are having to make hard decisions about where to go and what to do for fun," Jake Reed said. "Hopefully, we've made the decision to come to a Frisco Thunder game a lot easier.
"It's on us to get the word out and fill the seats," Reed added. "This is what we need to do be a successful franchise. We were pleased with the progress we made in 2008, but we're not going to completely satisfied until it's standing room only."
The Thunder endured a unique schedule in 2008, with the entire seven-game home schedule frontloaded at the beginning of the season due to arena renovations. Frisco is concluding this season with seven consecutive road games and will play any and all playoff games on the road.
"This season was not ideal, but we were prepared to deal with it because we know in 2009 that we'll have the best set up for any indoor football team in the nation," Reed said. "We're already excited about next year."
Season ticket packages will be sent out to the Thunder's e-mail database next week.
"We're looking forward to 2009," Reed said. "It's going to be a great season."
EDS CREDIT UNION BACK AS THUNDER TITLE SPONSOR
The Intense Football League's top Title Sponsor will return in 2009.
EDS Credit Union will continue its support of the Frisco Thunder as the Intense Football League's front office begins preparations for next year, Thunder owners Jake and Vinita Reed along with EDS Credit Union President Kent Lugrand announced today.
"We are so excited to be continuing our partnership with EDS Credit Union," Jake Reed said. "We wouldn't have come this far without them and we're committed to progressing even further with their help."
In addition to its sponsorship commitment, EDS Credit Union continues to offer amenities not often experienced with other sponsors in the league, including savings account clubs for kids, free raffles for video game, and more.
Lugrand is also looking forward to next year.
"It's exciting to help bring a professional sports franchise to Frisco and Collin County that focuses specifically on football," Lugrand said.
"North Texas really loves football and EDS Credit Union enjoys being associated with this successful second-year IFL franchise," Lugrand added. "Jake and Vinita's vision not only helps young men continue their dream of playing professional football, but provides good, clean, affordable family entertainment for the community that helps the local economy. "It's a win-win situation for everybody," Lugrand concluded. "I encourage other businesses to come along for the ride and help take the Thunder to an even higher level in 2009."
Even with games remaining in the current 2008 season, the Thunder office has begun preliminary planning for 2009 in the renovated Deja Blue Arena in the Dr Pepper Star Center.
"We're ramping up to our potential," Reed said. "2009 is going to be a great year, thanks in part to EDS Credit Union." THUNDER EXCITED TO RETURN TO RENOVATED HOME FIELD
The Frisco Thunder's reward for enduring a 2008 season with seven consecutive road games? The best arena set-up for any team in the Intense Football League and perhaps the entire sport of indoor football.
When the Thunder returns to the Dr Pepper Star Center in 2009, both fans and players will enjoy additional amenities that include additional seating, luxury suites, video screens, concession areas, locker room space and much, much more.
"There won't be a bad seat in the house,'' said Thunder owner Jake Reed. "The fans are going to get a first-rate football experience from the moment they walk into the arena."
Arena capacity will jump from 3,700 to 5,300 for Thunder games. Seven more luxury suites will be available, boosting that total to 14. Thunder players and coaches will benefit by having locker rooms facilities available throughout the season.
With the 2009 season expected to start later in the year, the team will be able to hold practices in the arena as well. "That will make a huge difference in our game preparation,'' said Thunder head coach Troy Esprit.
"Players making the adjustment from outdoor football to indoors will become more acclimated to the smaller field that much quicker."
A renovated arena will also help the Thunder attract quality players, Esprit said. "
It's a lot like college football - players want to play for the programs that offer the best situation for them,'' Esprit said. "Frisco will have a state-of-the-art arena in a major media market, you can't ask for much more than that as a coach."
