Steelhawks Announce Arena Developmental League Affiliation

Allentown, PA- The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks announced today that they, along with old rivals the Columbus Lions, are the first two teams to give their commitment to the newly formed Arena Developmental League (ADL). The Steelhawks played last season in the American Indoor Football League and will be entering their 7th season of play in 2017.

The ADL is led by Commissioner John Gregory, a professional football veteran with over 30 years in the sport. He is a two-time Grey Cup winner as both a Coach and front office in the CFL along with being a two-time Arena Bowl Champion in the AFL.

"I am so pleased that two of the best Arena Football Organizations in the sport, the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks and the Columbus Lions have chosen to play in the Arena Developmental League in the 2017 season," stated Gregory. "As Commissioner of the ADL I am looking forward to working with team representatives Mike Clark and Skip Seda."

Chris Siegfried, also an Arena Football Veteran Coach with a record of 90-59, will serve as the leagues Director of Football Operations

"After each season we evaluate all options to take our organization to the next level," stated Steelhawks General Manager Mike Clark. "The ADL has been a brain child discussed for a few years amongst owners, and it is finally coming to fruition. I am excited about the leagues leadership along with all the teams that will be announced in the coming weeks. The team will be able to continue old rivalries while creating new ones as well that should excite our fans. We believe we've found our home in this league for years to come."

The Steelhawks announcement was not the only one being made today. The Columbus Lions Head Coach Jason Gibson, who will be announcing their team's affiliation with the ADL at a 1pm press conference today stated, "First and foremost, I am excited for our fans." For over ten years our fans have been the number one priority of this organization. Not only are they loyal but they have helped put Columbus on the national stage and led us to three championships in six years. I am looking forward to being a part of the ADL because I know the leadership of John Gregory and Chris Siegfried will take the ADL to the next level. My concern as a coach has always been structure, discipline, and professionalism and they exemplify all of those qualities. Lastly, I am excited about the competition our fans will see. We look forward to great games and renewed rivals with top tier programs like Lehigh Valley Steelhawks."

Additional teams will be announced in the coming weeks, starting with a 1om announcement today by the Columbus Lions. The league season will begin in March of 2017, with the league's first schedule set to be released sometime in October.

Steelhawks 2017 season tickets go on sale August 1st, with packages starting as low as $48. All Steelhawks games are played on Embassy Bank Field inside the PPL Center.
