Sanger, Gibbons Pace Sixers in 4-3 Win

San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino bounced back from a 4-3 loss on Monday versus the Lancaster JetHawks with a 4-3 of their own on Tuesday at San Manuel Stadium. Inland Empire got a four-hit game from Zach Gibbons and three hits as well as three RBI from Brendon Sanger. It was Sanger's second consecutive three-hit game.

Lancaster (12-14) scored the game's first run in the third when Mylz Jones singled, stole second, moved to third on an infield hit and came home on Garrett Hampson's sac fly. Inland Empire answered with two runs in the second after loading the bases with no outs against Lancaster starter Trey Killian who nearly wriggled out of the jam. After getting back-to-back pop-outs he got ahead of Sanger 1-2. Sanger however ripped the next offering into left center for a two-run single and a 2-1 lead. The JetHawks tied it a 2-2 in the sixth when Hamlet Marte singled and eventually scored on Sam Hilliard's triple against IE starter Austin Robichaux. The righthander got a no decision going a season-high six innings allowing the two runs on five hits with one walk and three Ks.

The Sixers broke the tie in the bottom of the seventh when Jared Foster notched a single and stole second. He moved to third on a throwing error on the play. Foster now has a season-best nine game hit streak. He then scored on a wild pitch by reliever Max Schuh (0-3). Later in the frame Connor Justus walked and eventually scored on Sanger's RBI single marking his third hit of the game and making it 4-2. Sanger, who doubled in the second and reached on catcher's interference in the sixth finished 3-for-3 and is 6-for-7 in the series. The JetHawks did get a run versus IE reliever Garret Nuss (1-0) but Greyfer Eregua held them down with 1.1 IP of scoreless work to earn his first save.
