Roanoke Steam News Release
The Roanoke Steam are proud to partner with the Julian Stanley Wise Foundation and National Rescue/EMS to honor and celebrate our nation's heroes this Memorial Day weekend.
As part of the weekend-long memorial to our fallen rescue workers, the Steam will hold Local Heroes day at our May 25th game against the Cape Fear Wildcats. The game, as part of the memorial event, will pay tribute to the men and women who have sacrificed so much for the benefit of others.
With thousands of EMS and Rescue personnel from around the country expected in Roanoke, the game time has been moved to 2:30 pm to better accommodate the demands of scheduling and coordination with the memorial service that evening.
Included in the game festivities will be an extended tribute at halftime to the rescue squads from New York, Pennsylvania, and Northern Virginia, a fireworks show courtesy of Zambelli Fireworks, and a rendition of âAmerica the Beautiful'. In addition, Congressman Bob Goodlatte will be on hand to perform the ceremonial coin toss.
Tickets are available through the Roanoke Steam front office, at 540-767-8326.
