Bakersfield Blitz News Release

BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 9, 2002) – The Bakersfield Blitz arenafootball2 team is looking for a few good men; who can dance. In addition to the HOT Squad dance team, the Blitz is now looking to add "The Beefcakes" to help with promotions and entertainment.

"We're just looking to add to our presentation," said general manager Brad Hoffman. "This will be a great opportunity for a bunch of guys to get together on Saturday nights, enjoy a football game, and perform their talents for the crowd."

The Beefcakes will consist of eight men, ages 21 and older, who are willing to dance and help with promotions during timeouts and halftime. They will perform during the final six regular season home games and any playoff games in the Centennial Garden. For their time and efforts, each member of the team will receive season tickets for the rest of the 2002 season.

Any one interested in trying out is encouraged to contact the Blitz office at 634-9132.

The next home game for the Blitz is May 18th against the Peoria Pirates. Kick off is set for 7 pm with the pre-game tailgate party starting at 5 pm in the plaza in front of the Centennial Garden. Tickets are available now at all Ticketmaster locations and at the Centennial Garden box office. It's also 70's night, so show up in your best 70's outfit and receive a five dollar discount on any ticket. That means tickets start at only two dollars.

More than two million fans have attended arenafootball2 games in the league's two-year history. In 2000, af2 began its inaugural season with 15 teams. The league expanded to 28 teams in 2001, making it the fastest single-league expansion in the history of sports.
