
RGV Vipers Start the Season with a Win at Home

HIDALGO, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers opened the season with a 112-103 win over Reno Bighorns at State Farm Arena on Sunday night.
Isaiah Taylor led the Vipers with 24 points and seven assists in the game. Kyle Wiltjer, on assignment from the Houston Rockets, followed with 22 points.
Lamar Patterson, who finished the night with 23 points and seven assists, led Reno Bighorns. Skal Labissiere had a total of 11 rebounds in the game.
The Vipers started off the game shooting well and distancing themselves from their opponent. Rio Grande Valley's Isaiah Taylor had the hot hand early on the 1st quarter and had a couple of threes.
Le'Bryan Nash helped extend RGV's lead and finished the first half with 15 points. Taylor finished the half shooting 3-4 from beyond the three-point line. The Vipers at one point held a 30-point lead over Reno and finished the half on top 61-35.
Isaiah Cousins and Lamar Patterson helped the Bighorns cut their deficit and finished the third quarter only down by 10, 78-68. The Vipers held off Reno's rally to finish the game 112-103.
