
RGV Vipers Even out Series against Northern Arizona

Hidalgo, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (29-16), NBA D-League affiliate of the Houston Rockets, defeated Northern Arizona Suns (21-24) by a score of 138-116.
Darius Morris scored 28 points after going 50 percent from the field and led both teams in scoring. Chinanu Onuaku, on assignment from the Houston Rockets, had another double-double with 13 rebounds and 15 points. Elijah Millsap scored 26 points for the Suns.
Northern Arizona obtained the first lead after scoring the first bucket in the game. After obtaining the lead, the Vipers held on to it for the entirety of the game. Coming off the bench, Jaron Johnson gave the Vipers an offensive push with two three-pointers in the opening quarter.
RGV's Chinanu Onuaku was perfect in the first half going six for six for a total of 13 points. Jaron Johnson contributed with 14 points in the half to give the Vipers a 69-63 lead over the Northern Arizona Suns.
Vipers' Troy Williams got the hot hand in the third quarter. He scored 12 points in the third. Rio Grande Valley put a huge performance in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Suns 40-28. Morris had 10 points in the final quarter while Jaron Johnson scored another eight for the Vipers. The Vipers shot at 57.5 percent from the field in the 138-116 win.
The Rio Grande Valley Vipers will host Santa Cruz Warriors on Tuesday night in a game with big playoff implications. The game will tip off at 7p.m.
