Reading Fightin Phils News Release


(Manchester, NH) - The Reading Fightin Phils (23-21) have lost eight straight games as they dropped Saturday night's contest by a score of 4-1 to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (18-29). Reading has not had this long of a losing streak since June 17-29 in 2014 when they lost 12-straight games.

New Hampshire jumped out to a 1-0 lead against Mario Sanchez (2-1) and the Fightins in the bottom of the first. Back-to-back singles by Jonathan Davis and Richard Urena set up a sacrifice fly by Harold Ramirez to score Davis. Scott Kingery tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third inning with two outs. He hit his 15th home run of the season off Fisher Cats starter Chris Rowley (2-1), now tying Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees for the most home runs in all of professional baseball.

Andrew Guillotte broke the tie in the bottom of the fourth inning as he hit a two-out home run off Sanchez to give the Fisher Cats a 2-1 lead. New Hampshire extended their lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning with two outs as Danny Jansen hit a RBI single off Sanchez to score Derrick Loveless.

Sanchez left the game after five innings. He allowed three runs off six hits and one walk with one strikeout. Alexis Rivero entered the game in the bottom of the sixth inning to pitch in relief of Sanchez. Rivero tossed a scoreless inning while recording one strikeout. Austin Davis relieved Rivero in the bottom of the seventh inning. Jonathan Davis hit a home run off Davis in the bottom of the 7th to take a 4-1 lead.

Dusty Isaacs closed out the game for the Fisher Cats, earning his first save of the season.
