
Osprey Alums Goldschmidt & Inciarte Earn Gold Glove Awards

MISSOULA, MONT. - First baseman Paul Goldschmidt (Arizona Diamondbacks) and outfielder Ender Inciarte (Atlanta Braves) both members of the 2009 Missoula Osprey, were awarded with a Gold Glove at their respective positions in the National League on Tuesday.
The honor was Goldschmidt's third (2013 & 2015) and Inciarte's second (2016). The Gold Glove is the award given annually to the Major League Baseball players judged to have exhibited superior individual fielding performances at each position in both the National and American League as voted by the managers and coaches in each league.
Goldschmidt recorded a .997 fielding percentage and tied for second among first basemen with 10 defensive runs saved. He is also the first Diamondbacks player to win three Gold Glove Awards and is the seventh first baseman to earn All-Star and Gold Glove honors in the same season on three separate occasions. Offensively, Goldschmidt finished at .297 with 36 homeruns 120 RBIs to go with 18 stolen bases.
Inciarte committed just three errors in 156 games, recorded a 200-hit season offensively and was selected to his first MLB All-Star team. In just his fourth major league season, Inciarte set career- highs in average (.304), home runs (11), RBIs (57) and walks (49) all while batting leadoff. His 200-hit season was just the fourth by a Braves player since the team moved to Atlanta in 1966 and the first since Marquis Grissom in 1996.
Goldschmidt has also been named a finalist for the National League MVP, an award that will be announced on November 16 on MLB Network.
