FRISCO, TX (Nov. 24, 2017) - The South Bay Lakers (7-1) got revenge on the Texas Legends (3-4) with a 125-112 victory Friday night in Frisco. After handing South Bay their sole loss of the season so far, Texas struggled second-half woes to even the season series.
Thomas Bryant set the pace for the visitors seconds into the game with a long ball to take the first lead. The Lakers jumped out to a 10-point advantage before a 17-3 run by the Legends turned the table. The two teams exchanged leads four times in the first with South Bay maintaining a one-point edge at the buzzer. Texas grabbed one more advantage before the visitors spread the gap to double-digits heading into the locker room. South Bay's hot shooting continued after the break, peaking at 73% in the fourth to control the second half.
Johnathan Motley finished with 29 points, 10 rebounds while Kyle Collinsworth added 12 rebounds, 9 assists, and 5 points to give the home team the edge on the boards 40-38. Justin Dentmon grabbed 22 points, 4 assists while Brandon Ashley put up 21 points, 6 rebounds, and a game-high 4 steals. Keith Hornsby followed a career-night with another 10-plus performance adding 11 points, 4 assists while Antonius Cleveland (12 points, 2 rebounds) and JJ Avila (10 points, 5 rebounds) rounded off the double-digit scoring.
V.J. Beachem went 11-of-14 and 8-of-10 outside to lead South Bay with 30 points while Bryant (15 points, 10 rebounds) and Scott Machado (16 points, 11 assists) each added double-doubles. Vander Blue rounded off the stats sheet with 27 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.
