Legends Outshoot the Stars

SALT LAKE CITY, UT, (Dec. 22, 2016) - The Texas Legends (9-6) grabbed the lead in the season series with the Salt Lake City Stars (3-13) with a 114-90 win Thursday night in Utah.

Texas led wire-to-wire, starting quick with a 12-0 run to open the game. The visitors ultimately went up by 20 in the first, shooting 52% as a team. The Legends widened the gap in the second, spreading the scoring and continuing the 52% completion rate to finish the half up by 27.

The league's leading scorer, Pierre Jackson, opened the second half with a long ball to propel the Legends into their largest lead of the night (+40). Texas' gap would ignite the Stars into a 9-0 run and the home team would finish the quarter outscoring the Legends 15-22. Texas maintained a 33-point advantage heading into the final minutes and the spread proved too much for Salt Lake City.

Texas shot 46% on the night and grabbed 51 rebounds while Salt Lake City finished at 36%, 47 boards. All five Legends starters finished in double digits with Manny Harris leading all scorers at 29 points and adding 6 rebounds, 3 assists. Jackson finished with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals, and Kyle Collinsworth grabbed 11 boards to lead the Legends while adding 9 points, 2 steals.

Jazz assignee Joel Bolomboy put on a show for the Stars with 23 points, 23 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 blocks. Tyrone Wallace (16 points, 2 steals) and JJ O'Brien (11 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists) rounded off the Stars' double-figure scoring.
