Legends' Fourth Quarter Rally Falls Short in Reno

Texas Legends News Release

RENO, NV - The Texas Legends (23-22) rallied from an 18-point first to a 38-point fourth quarter performance, but the comeback fell short as the Reno Bighorns (17-27) took the 136-126 win at home.

The Legends got off to a rough start hitting only 36% for 18 points in the first. Facing a double-digit deficit early, Texas managed to stay the gap and match the home team point-for-point heading into the half. JJ Avila played all 12 minutes before the break, hitting 6-of-7 and 2-of-3 outside to lead the Legends with 15 second quarter points and 5 rebounds.

Isaiah Cousins came out firing in the third, hitting all eight shots taken for 18 points and leading the Bighorns to a 44-point quarter on 85% shooting. Texas spread the offense with eight of 10 players scoring but Reno forged ahead to a 19-point advantage. With under 10 minutes to play, the Legends faced a 25-point difference. Looking to leading scorer Pierre Jackson, Texas powered out a 24-8 run and cut the difference to single digits. Jackson grabbed 15 while Avila and Kyle Collinsworth added 8 each, but the nine-point wedge would be the Legends' closest as Reno pounded out an answer for each further attempt.

Jackson led the Legends in scoring with 28 points, 7 assists while Avila finished with 25 points and a team-high 12 boards to go along with 2 assists, and 2 steals.D
