Legends Announce Habitat for Humanity Partnership Built by Capital One Home Loans
December 12, 2016 - NBA G League (G League)
Texas Legends News Release
FRISCO, TX- The Texas Legends have announced a partnership with Capital One Home Loans that centers around the community initiatives of their support of Habitat for Humanity. On Wednesday, December 14th, the Legends will wear custom jerseys to celebrate Habitat for Humanity night, incorporating Capital One Home Loans and the Legends' logo.
Habitat for Humanity was officially founded in 1976 when co-founders Millard and Linda Fuller took the existing community farm concept to the next level. Habitat has since helped over 6.8 million people to regain their independence by providing affordable, decent housing, and Habitat for Humanity South Collin County is responsible for over 390 of those home builds or repairs. Habitat's partnership concept requires that the recipients work alongside volunteers of the organization to put in "sweat equity hours" whether that be in the renovation process or in other areas of the Habitat office.
Along with housing construction, Habitat focuses on constant innovation of their assistance process through the Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter. The organization also provides disaster relief and works hand in hand with their families to provide financial education, further impacting the futures of those they lend assistance to.
Last week the Legends joined with Capital One Home Loans staff members to serve Habitat in building a new home for a local Plano family. Each site utilizes volunteers as well as Habitat staff members and building crew to construct the homes from the ground up.
"We are so grateful to Capital One Home Loans for including us in their Habitat day," said Legends Assistant General Manager Travis Blakeley. "To be able to get out there and actually see and take part in the mission of Habitat was invaluable to our team and something we look forward to doing again in the future."
Capital One Home Loans is using their night to raise awareness and funds for Habitat for Humanity South Collin County, including a text-to-give campaign that began Friday and runs through the game on Wednesday. Fans can text "BuildIt" to 243725 to donate. Along with the charitable aspect, Capital One Home Loans will be giving all fans the opportunity to win a prize pack with "lucky" giveaways as they enter.
"This is truly going to be a special night for our fans," Mavericks President/General Manager and Legends Owner Donnie Nelson stated. "They will get a first-hand look at the impact Capital One Home Loans and Habitat for Humanity are having on our community and will get to have fun with it along the way!"
The Legends will host the Reno Bighorns on Wednesday at 7pm at Dr Pepper Arena. For tickets or information visit www.TexLegends.com or call 214-469-0822.
