Legends Add Vin Baker to Coaching Bench from NBA's Assistant Coaches Program

February 1, 2017 - NBA G League (G League)
Texas Legends News Release

FRISCO, TX- The Texas Legends have announced the addition of Vin Baker to the coaches' bench through the NBA's Assistant Coaches Program (ACP).

Baker is a 13-year NBA veteran joining the team for the second half of the season. Baker was a four-time NBA All-Star with the Milwaukee Bucks and Seattle Super Sonics. The Bucks selected Baker in the first round (8th overall) out of Hartford University in the 1993 NBA Draft. He made three playoff appearances with Seattle and another with the Knicks en route to 815 career NBA games. Baker's success as a player and willingness to mentor young hopefuls make him a perfect match for MacKinnon's staff. His focus will be on player development both on and off the court.

The NBA's Assistant Coaches Program (ACP) looks to prepare current and former NBA, WNBA and NBA Developmental League (D-League) players for coaching careers after their playing days have ended. First implemented in 1988, the ACP has exposed over 150 former players to NBA GMs, coaches and NBA/NBA D-League team personnel as viable coaching candidates.

"Vin is a great addition to our coaching staff," MacKinnon said. "His experience speaks for itself and our players will benefit greatly. Having he and Charlie Bell on our staff through the NBA's Assistant Coaches Program has been tremendous!"
