Hartford Yard Goats News Release
HARTFORD- Home runs by Eduard Pinto and Harold Ramirez and the pitching of starter T.J. Zeuch lifted the first place New Hampshire Fisher Cats to an 8-1 victory over the Hartford Yard Goats on Sunday, before a capacity crowd of 6,850 at Dunkin' Donuts Park. The Fisher Cats, winners of five straight, continued their dominance over Hartford, winning their 16th of 18 games against the Goats and going 11-0 for the season at Dunkin' Donuts Park.
The two clubs played before Hartford's 33rd sellout of the season. In July, Yard Goats games attracted 72,310, averaging 6,573 fans per contest. Nine of the club's 11 July home games were sellouts.
Hartford starter Evan Grills and Zeuch deadlocked in a scoreless dual through three innings, but the Blue Jays affiliate erupted for five runs after two outs in the fourth inning on five consecutive hits. Pinto concluded the scoring in the frame, pulling a two-run homer into the upper deck in right.
Max Pentecost had three hits and an RBI for the Fisher Cats, while Pinto had a home run, double and four RBI. Jon Berti added two hits. Sam Hilliard and Omar Carrizales each had two hits for Hartford (49-55) which lost its sixth straight, but Grills suffered his fourth loss (2-4), permitting seven earned runs on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings. Lefty reliever Brian Moran gave the Yard Goats two perfect innings and struck out the last five batters he faced. Zeuch, who improved to 6-4, hurled six scoreless innings for New Hampshire, did not walk a batter and struck out five. It was the Fisher Cats 60th victory of the season, as they sit atop the Eastern Division with a 60-44 record.
Hartford opens a four-game series at Binghamton on Tuesday with a doubleheader against the Mets AA affiliate. RHP Ryan Castellani and LHP Sean Nolin will pitch for the Yard Goats, while Binghamton will counter with RHP Harol Gonzalez and RHP Kevin McGowan. The doubleheader will start at 5:35 pm and will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and streamed on newsradio1410.iheart.com and MiLB.com. The Yard Goats return home to Dunkin' Donuts Park on Friday night, Aug. 3, at 7:05 to play the Trenton Thunder, the AA affiliate of the New York Yankees.
