Corpus Christi Hammerheads News Release
Corpus Christi, TX - The Corpus Christi Hammerheads (1-2) return to the turf inside the American Bank Center Friday night looking to run their home record to 2-0 and get back to .500 on the season against the East Texas Wranglers.
This is the only meeting in 2011 between the two teams and game two in the Dustin Almond era in Corpus Christi.
The Hammerheads are coming of a 70-53 thumping of division rival Rio Grande Valley but Almond thinks there are still better things to come. "We left some points on the field Saturday and we struggled in the 3rd quarter so we still have work to do and will be better", he said.
The Hammerheads will have to be cautious about over looking the Wranglers and not peek ahead to their big home and home match up with the division leading Houston Stallions. The teams will meet in Houston on April 23rd and back in Corpus Christi on April 30th. "I'm not even looking at them yet, let's get a win on Friday and then I'll focus on Houston Saturday", Almond added.
Last week the Hammerheads retooled offense was spectacular with 328 yards of total offense, 7 TD passes by Rookie QB Anthony Andre, 10 catches for 113 yards by WR Corey Brittain, and the longest rush from scrimmage in the league so far this year, a 42 yard TD dash by Skyler Moore.
In addition to the game, fans will also be entertained by Super Fan Cameron Hughes as well as a halftime performance by Dave the Horn Guy. Kickoff Friday is set for 7:05pm.
Tickets start at only $10 and are available at Ticketmaster, Tickermaster.com, The American Bank Center Box Office, or by calling the Hammerheads at 814-PASS (7277). The game can also be heard on Sports Radio Corpus Christi, 1230am, beginning at 6:45pm.
