Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Kannapolis struggled offensively in a loss to Hagerstown, 4-1 in seven innings, in the second game of a doubleheader on Wednesday at Municipal Stadium. Kannapolis (9-10) managed three hits scattered across the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings as Hagerstown forced a doubleheader and series split.

Suns starting pitcher McKenzie Mills struck out the side in a perfect first inning, and he went to strike out six of the first seven Intimidators hitters he faced. Mills (3-1) worked 5 and 2/3 innings, limiting Kannapolis to a run on two hits with no walks and six strikeouts en route to earning a win.

Hagerstown took an early lead with a run against Intimidators starting pitcher Kyle Kubat in the first inning. Carter Kieboom singled, and Jake Noll drove him in with a 2-out double for a 1-0 advantage. Suns catcher Jorge Tillero drove in three runs in the game, going 2-for-3 with a 2-run double in the fourth and an RBI-double in the sixth.

Kubat (0-2) took the loss for Kannapolis in a spot start, allowing a run on two hits in 3.0 innings. He struck out two and walked two before turning the mound over to Lane Hobbs and Kevin Escorcia.

Brandon Dulin put Kannapolis on the board in the top of the sixth. Jameson Fisher reached base hit by pitch and moved to third base on a pair of wild pitches, setting up Dulin's RBI-single.

Monday and Tuesday's games in Hagerstown were rained out, giving Kannapolis three days off between games. Because this is the only series the Intimidators play in Hagerstown during the first half, Kannapolis will host a doubleheader during the series when the Suns come to town on June 14 to make up one of the two rained out games.

The Intimidators now hit the road for Lakewood, N.J., to open a 4-game series against the BlueClaws on Thursday at 6:35 p.m. at FirstEnergy Park. Kannapolis will send LHP Bernardo Flores (2-1, 3.45 ERA) to the mound against Lakewood's RHP Adonis Media (0-1, 1.06 ERA) in the series opener. The Intimidators return to Kannapolis for a 7-game home stand starting Tuesday, May 2, as the team hosts promotions such as a Wine & Paint Party (May 3), Thirsty Thursday (May 4), Military Appreciation Jersey Raffle (May 5), and Hawaii Vacation Giveaway (May 6). Tickets are available by calling the F&M Bank Box Office at 704-932-3267 or by visiting IntimidatorsBaseball.com .
