Davey and Stephens Receive AFL Honors in Week 17

SAN ANTONIO - Talons Wide Receiver/Kick Returner DJ Stephens was awarded the J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the week honor for his performance last week against the Tampa Bay Storm. Quarterback Rohan Davey was awarded Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the week, and is also a nominee for AFL MVP of the week following his eight touchdown performance in the Talons 68-42 victory over the Storm in Week 17.
RUSSELL ATHLETIC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Davey (6-3, 250, LSU) completed 21-of-31 passes for 313 yards and eight touchdowns in San Antonio's 68-42 victory over the Tampa Bay Storm in Week 17. The game marked Davey's first triple-digit passer rating performance in six starts this season.
Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Nick Davila, Orlando's Aaron Garcia, Philadelphia's Andrae Thurman, San Jose's Russ Michna and Spokane's Arvell Nelson.
J. LEWIS SMALL PLAYMAKER OF THE WEEK
Stephens (5-11, 180, Arkansas-Monticello) tied a single-game franchise record with five touchdown receptions in the Talons' 68-42 win over the Tampa Bay Storm in Week 17. He finished the game with 184 receiving yards and 81 kick return yards, marking his fifth consecutive contest with triple-digit all-purpose yardage. He will receive a timepiece crafted by J. Lewis Small for his efforts.
J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Arkeith Brown, Orlando's Jason Geathers, Philadelphia's Dan Raudabaugh, San Jose's Huey Whittaker and Spokane's Arvell Nelson.
The Arena Football League is also awarding the AFL MVP of the Week, where fans are given the opportunity to select the winner. Candidates include Arizona DB Virgil Gray, Philadelphia QB Dan Raudabaugh and San Antonio QB Rohan Davey. Fans will have 24 hours to vote on www.ArenaFootball.com beginning at 1 p.m. ET Today, July 17. The winner will be announced on Thursday, July 18.
