WILMINGTON, DE - On Monday, July 16, Minor League Baseball named Salem Red Sox third baseman Bobby Dalbec the Carolina League Player of the Week for the week of July 9-15, the second time in a row he's received the award.

Dalbec, 23, was again unstoppable this week, batting a scorching .476 (10 hits in 21 at bats) with four homers to run his league-leading tally to 23; that's a new Salem record for the Red Sox era (2009-present) and one shy of matching Ademar Rifaela's league-best tally from 2017. He drove in eight runs, scored five times, drew five walks and stole a base for the Sox in six games over the week, and posted a .577 on-base percentage and a staggering 1.048 slugging percentage.

From July 2-8, Dalbec was every bit as dangerous, batting .481 (13-27) in seven games with five doubles, a triple, four homers and 14 RBI in seven games; he consequently earned the nod for Player of the Week. In the month of July, Dalbec is hitting .451 (23-51) with five doubles, a triple and eight homers (matching Xander Bogaerts' efforts in June 2012 for the single-month homer record in the Red Sox era), driving in 22 runs and scoring 13 more. His OPS for the month is a Bondsian 1.567.

On the season, Dalbec leads the Carolina League in home runs (23), RBI (78), doubles (25), extra-base hits (49), total bases (176) and strikeouts (112). He's second in slugging percentage (.583) and bases on balls (51). His 23 homers put him one away from tying Brandon Jacobs for the career record in the Red Sox era.

Drafted in the fourth round of the 2016 MLB Draft from the University of Arizona, Dalbec made his pro debut in 2016, batting .386 with seven homers in 34 games for the Short Season-A Lowell Spinners. He was named New York-Penn League Player of the Week for August 15-21 and 22-28 in that year, and was tabbed as the Red Sox Minor League Hitter of the Month for August/September. In 2017, Dalbec was limited by a hamate injury, batting .246 with 13 homers and 39 RBI in 78 games for the Low-A Greenville Drive. At Arizona, he was a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American, and led the 2015 Cape Cod League with 12 homers for the Orleans Firebirds. A two-way star for the Wildcats, he led Arizona with 15 homers and 58 RBI as a sophomore, and played for Team USA in 2015.
