D-Fenders Staff to Coach West Squad at 2017 D-League All-Star Game

EL SEGUNDO - Los Angeles D-Fenders head coach Coby Karl and his staff will lead the Western Conference at the 2017 NBA D-League All-Star Game presented by Kumho Tire on Saturday, Feb. 18, in New Orleans, the league announced today. Karl's staff includes assistant coaches Paul Woolpert, Brian Walsh and Isaiah Fox.

With a 125-120 win over the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Thursday, Jan. 26, Los Angeles clinched the best record in the conference through games played on Jan. 29, the league's cutoff for determining coaching staffs for the East and West squads.

Karl, in his first season as a head coach, becomes the second person in D-Fenders history to coach in the all-star game, joining Dan Panaggio, who led the Western Conference All-Star team in 2008. This season's Los Angeles squad owns a league-best 22-6 record on the year, the best start in franchise history.

The 2017 NBA D-League All-Star Game presented by Kumho Tire will be televised on NBA TV. The coverage will include the game, the NBA D-League Three-Point Contest and the NBA D-League Slam Dunk presented by Verizon.
