Bernarn Smith Named Wizards Assistant Coach

Bismarck, N.D. (October 13, 2010) - The Dakota Wizards announced today that Bernard Smith has been named the team's assistant coach under Head Coach Rory White for the 2010-11 season.

Smith began his coaching career in the NBA as the video coordinator for the Portland Trailblazers for two seasons from 2002-2004. He was then promoted to assistant coach prior to the start of the 2004-05 season. Smith also served as the video coordinator for the WNBA's Portland Fire in 2002-03. Smith's most current stop was with the Philadelphia 76'ers from 2005-2009 as an assistant coach and player development.

"We are very excited to add Bernard to the organization as we prepare for another exciting season. Bernard brings a great deal of basketball experience that will be essential in the development of our players and the continued success of the organization," said Wizards Head Coach Rory White.

Smith, a native of Philadelphia, has a daughter Karai and a son Javon.

Both coaches will be in Washington D.C. this weekend, as the Dakota Wizards will hold an open tryout at the Verizon Center, home of the Washington Wizards.

Season tickets and 5-ticket flex packs for the 2010-11 season are on sale. Single game tickets will go on sale in early November. The home opener is set for Friday, Nov. 19 against the Iowa Energy. For more information contact the Dakota Wizards at (701) 258-2255.
