Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

PENSACOLA, FL - The Pensacola Ice Flyers dropped their second game of the season tonight as they fell to the visiting Knoxville Ice Bears by a final score of 6-2.

Knoxville took the 1-0 lead just 1:24 into the game when Doug Reid rifled a shot from just inside the blue line that beat Ice Flyers goalie Eric Levine up high. Less than 30 seconds later, with Levine screened, Corey Hale fired a shot into the upper left corner to make it 2-0. The Ice Bears went up 3-0 when Ben Power scored with just 1:40 remaining in the first. The Ice Flyers were able to grab some momentum heading into the locker room as David Segal scored on his old team with 4.6 seconds left in the opening frame. Brandon Blair and Paul Rodrigues assisted on the marker.

Corey Banfield cut the Ice Bears' lead down to 3-2 when he banged in a rebound on the right side of the crease 4:58 into the second. Adam Pawlick had the initial shot and Cole Ruwe also picked up an assist on Banfield's first of the season. Knoxville effectively silenced the Pensacola comeback when Reid netted his second of the game just 45 seconds after Banfield's goal.

With Banfield in the box for tripping, Knoxville's Zack LaRue scored a power play goal to put the Ice Bears up 5-2 with 14:22 remaining in the third. Corey Fulton scored with 10:13 remaining.

Levine stopped 8 of the 11 shots he faced in 20 minutes of action and was the goalie of record picking up the loss in his Ice Flyers debut. Matt Zenzola stopped 20 of 23 shots he faced in 40 minutes of play.

The Ice Flyers' next home game is Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 6:35 p.m. It will be Veteran Appreciation Night inside the Hangar. All veterans can show identification confirming their status as a veteran at the Rodizio Grill Box Office to receive a free Center Ice ticket. Everyone else in their party will receive 35% off their Center Ice ticket.
