Roughnecks Defeat Swarm

St. Paul, MN - The Calgary Roughnecks defeated the Minnesota Swarm 10-6 on Saturday evening at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Dane Dobbie, with the first shot of the game, opened the scoring for Calgary who had a commanding 7-1 lead after the first 30 minutes with additional goals from Shawn Evans (3), Karsen Leung, Sean Pollock and Daryl Veltman. Evans added a fourth goal and two assists to finish the night with a game-leading six points.

Jeff Shattler and Curtis Dickson rounded out the scoring for Calgary while transition player Geoff Snider was solid in the faceoff circle, winning 16 of 20 draws.

Johnny Powless, with a pair of markers, Sam Bradman, Greg Downing, Shayne Jackson and Joel White scored for the Swarm in the home setback.

Frankie Scigliano picked up the win for Calgary, his fifth of the season, with 43 saves.

Following a bye in Week 17, the Roughnecks (6-11) will wrap up the regular season against the Vancouver Stealth on May 2 at the Langley Events Centre.
