HOW DID WE GET HERE?

The MKE Wave ended the MASL Regular Season with a record of 13-7 and eliminated Chicago from the opening round of the 2015 Major Arena Soccer League Ron Newman Cup Playoffs Saturday night by defeating the Mustangs in Game 2; (9-2) and Game 3; (2-1) in overtime at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.

REGULAR SEASON vs. MISSOURI:

Saturday, November 15, 2014 -STRONG FIRST HALF NOT ENOUGH AS WAVE FALL TO THE COMETS .

After a promising first half, the MKE Wave could not withstand a second half rally from the Missouri Comets, falling 9-7 for their first loss of the season.

The Wave jumped out to an early 3-2 lead in the first quarter, with goal from #20 Marcelo Fontana, #29 JC Banks, #77 Marcio Leite. The Wave added two more in the second quarter, one by #2 Tenzin Rampa and another by Banks. Missouri would score once more, but the Wave held a 5-3 halftime lead.

The second half was another story, as the Comets outscored the Wave 4-1 in the third quarter, the lone Wave goal coming from #16 Anthony Arico, his first professional career goal. #26 Ian Bennett would tie the game at 7 early in fourth, but that was all the Wave could muster, as Leo Gibson and Bryan Perez of the Missouri Comets would each score their second goal of the game, to give the Comets the 9-7 win.

Wednesday, December 31, 2014 - MKE WAVE FALLS SHORT IN EXCITING OVERTIME GAME VS DEFENDING CHAMPION MISSOURI COMETS.

Your Six-Time Champion MKE Wave lost to the defending champion Missouri Comets Wednesday afternoon at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena, 8-7.

"The guys showed a lot of character tonight," said Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. "Anytime you play the defending champs, it's a game you have to be up for. I think we got beat on a technicality tonight. I hope the Major Arena Soccer League takes a serious look at the rulebook, see's how other leagues do it around the world and follow suit. Overall, we are treating tonight's game huge positive and look forward to the Rochester Lancers on Saturday night."

With only scoring two goals in the first; goals from #15 Tony Walls and #77 Marcio Leite and being shut-out of in the second and thrid quarter, the Wave looked to rebound in the fourth.

The Wave needed to get a quick goal in the fourth to stop the Comets momentum. #10 Luan Sales Oliveira found the back of the net, following a goal from #26 Ian Bennett and two #29 JC Banks with 2 goals.

The Comets did take lead back with a goal from #10 Bryan Perez. But with 5 seconds left in the game, #9 Mike Lookingland sent a long ball into the box and found the feet of #10 Luan Oliveira to tie the game at 7 with 1 second left.

With no goal scored in overtime the game headed into a shoot-out.

The first two shooters to the Comets; #14 Leo Gibson and #10 Bryan Perez and the Wave; #26 Ian Bennett and #77 Marcio Leite could not score. The third shooter Comets #7 Vahid Assadpour and Wave #10 Luan Oliveira both scored. The Comets got the win thanks to #14 Leo Gibson, making the game with goal.
