Inland Empire 66ers News Release
San Bernardino, CA - The Inland Empire 66ers Professional Baseball Club announced on Monday that the team's ongoing charitable endeavors had a banner year in 2014. Through community promotions, in-stadium fundraising, monetary donations and gifts-in-kind the 66ers donated over $367,500 to the Inland Empire region. It was a point of pride for the organization as it surpassed its 2013 mark by over $100,000.
Community promotions at San Manuel Stadium that featured jersey raffles such as Disabilities Awareness Night, Rotary Strike Out Polio, Protect and Serve Night and Zombie Night raised over $14,000 for their affiliated charities. The club was able to make monetary donations to a wide variety of charities to the tune of $46,848. Many of these direct cash donations went to local youth baseball and sports teams spanning from Beaumont to the east, Corona to the south and Fontana to the west.
The 66ers 12th annual golf tournament held at Arrowhead Country Club in August was once again a success. The proceeds of the charity event benefitted Loma Linda Children's Hospital and raised $12,500 for the hospital's general fund in one afternoon. "As an organization we are proud of our ability to be a positive force in the community," 66ers General Manager Joe Hudson said. "The 66ers will always be committed to giving back to the area that supports us as well as be an avenue to local non-profits for unique fundraising opportunities."
