Grand Rapids Drive News Release
Grand Rapids, Mich. - Dec. 28 - The Grand Rapids Drive (8-6) started fast and did not look back on Sunday, dispatching the Los Angeles D-Fenders (5-12) at home by a score of 117-95. The Drive held a 66-51 lead at halftime, which marked the most points they have scored in the first half all season.
The win keeps Grand Rapids in first place in the Central Division. They are now 5-1 at the DeltaPlex this year.
The Drive were extremely effective from deep, connecting on 15 of 26 attempts from beyond the three-point line. L.D. Williams lead the way with 26 points, and five other Drive players scored in double figures.
Jabari Brown, moved into the starting lineup with Manny Harris inactive, carried the bulk of the load for the D-Fenders, leading all scorers with 30 points, including 22 in the first half. In his return to Michigan, Michigan State Alumni, Keith Appling had 11 points for the D-Fenders.
Los Angeles was again plagued by a poor defensive effort as they surrendered over 115 points for the 16th time this season. The D-Fenders have allowed at least 110 points in every game this year.
The Drive play next at home on Thursday, January 1 against the Sioux Falls Skyforce. The D-Fenders head to Canton for a December 30 matchup against the Charge.
