Texas Legends News Release
FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends reached new heights in their 153-131 routing of the Reno Bighorns Saturday night in Frisco.
Mike James, Eric Griffin and Ricky Ledo hit double-digits in the first quarter to spur the Legends to a 52-33 lead at the buzzer. Reno's Quincy Miller and Jordan Hamilton lit up for 14 and 13 respectively with Hamilton hitting 4-of-4 to attempt a rally for Reno in the second, but the Legends continued to answer. Texas' shooting slowed before the half but the team hit 71% from outside to round off the largest first half in franchise history, 91-70.
The gap continued to grow coming out of halftime as the Legends took their largest lead of the night 121-89. Despite shooting 35%, the Legends out-rebounded the Bighorns 23-13 to hold onto a 29-point advantage with the fourth quarter looming. Miller came out firing for 10 points and Hamilton added 9 points, 7 rebounds but the 37-30 quarter wasn't enough to erase the Legends' double-digit margin. The Legends posted season-highs of 153 points, 67 rebounds and 34 assists to tie their largest victory of the season.
Six Legends players added double-digits and three tallied double-doubles. Eric Griffin added a season-high 34 points to lead the Legends, while Dwight Powell came close with 26 and 21 boards in his debut with the team. Damion James and Ricky Ledo also grabbed season-high scores with 23 each; James also added 18 rebounds and 8 assists while Ledo added 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Justin Jackson had a team and season-high 5 blocked shots.
Jordan Hamilton and Quincy Miller combined for 67 points to lead the Bighorns. Hamilton also grabbed a double-double with 16 boards.
The Legends will travel to Erie to take on the Bayhawks at 6pm CT on Monday, Dec. 29th. The team will play three games on the road before returning home Saturday, Jan. 3rd to host the Oklahoma City Blue. All games will be broadcast live on the NBA Development League's YouTube channel.
