Cedar Park, TX November 23 - The Austin Spurs defeated the Santa Cruz Warriors 110-105 in their season home opener at the SWBC Court at Cedar Park Center Sunday afternoon.
JaMychal Green tallied his third double-double with 27 points and 14 rebounds. Kyle Anderson, on assignment from the San Antonio Spurs, contributed 18 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.
The Austin Spurs took an early lead behind hot shooting from forwards Jarell Eddie and JaMychal Green, who combined for 15 points in the period, leading the team to a 32-17 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Bryce Cotton added 5 assists in the first period to spark the Austin Spurs' run.
The Santa Cruz Warriors cut the lead in the second quarter, shooting 57.7% from the field and 66.7% from three-point range. Forwards Joe Alexander and James Michael McAdoo both contributed 10 points for the Warriors in the second period.
A last second three pointer by Bryce Cotton gave the Austin Spurs momentum heading into halftime with a 58-54 lead.
In the third quarter, Jarell Eddie was 3-for-3 from the three-point line, while Devondrick Walker scored two key baskets off the bench in the period for the Austin Spurs. Warriors guard Elliot Williams kept the score close with 10 points in the period, and the third quarter ended with an 85-83 Austin Spurs lead.
The Warriors shot only 34.8% from the field in the fourth quarter while the Austin Spurs shot 43.5% from the field. Austin Spurs forward Erik Murphy went 3-for-3 in the fourth quarter to help secure the team's 110-105 win.
Warriors (2-2) forward Joe Alexander led the team with 24 points and 10 rebounds.
The Austin Spurs (1-3) travel to Oklahoma City on November 30 to take on the OKC Blue. Santa Cruz Warriors head to Bakersfield on November 25.
