D-Fenders Drop Second in a Row to Idaho

EL SEGUNDO - The Los Angeles D-Fenders fell to the Idaho Stampede 118-110 tonight at the Toyota Sports Center.

The D-Fenders (1-4) were led by Manny Harris, who netted a game-high 28 points on 9-of-16 from the field. Roscoe Smith (25 points, 10 rebounds) recorded his fourth double-double of the season and his third game this season with 20 points or more. Los Angeles Lakers assignment players Jordan Clarkson and Xavier Henry each scored 19 points for the D-Fenders. Clarkson dished out a game-high 10 assists, while Henry added five dimes of his own for L.A.

Kevin Murphy was again the leading scorer for Idaho, with 26 points, six rebounds and five assists. Toure Murry recorded a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Jerrelle Benimon also recorded a double-double with 17 points and a game-high 18 rebounds. Tyrrel Tate (12 points) and Tre' Bussey (11 points) also reached double-digit scoring for the Stampede (2-2).

The D-Fenders followed last night's trend, firing on all cylinders in the first quarter and finishing the quarter up 28-20. Roscoe Smith scored nine points on the quarter, while Xavier Henry added seven for L.A. The second quarter was more of the same, with Roscoe Smith scoring 10 points on the quarter. The D-Fenders outscored the Stampede 34-29 on the quarter and took a 62-49 lead into the break. Kevin Murphy netted 14 points for the half and Toure Murry added 12 points for Idaho.

The Stampede started the second half on a roll, outscoring the D-Fenders 36-26 on the quarter and ending the quarter down just three points (88-85). As a team, Idaho shot .560 for the quarter, while L.A. shot just .400. The trend continued into the fourth quarter, where the Stampede would see a big contribution from their bench, who combined for 15 points on the quarter. Idaho outscored L.A. 33-22 and capped off a 118-110 victory.

Bench points and turnovers would be the difference in this one. Idaho's bench outscored the D-Fenders bench 33-12. L.A. turned the ball over 19 times, leading to 32 points for the Stampede. Idaho turned the ball over 16 times themselves, but it only led to 14 points for Los Angeles.

The D-Fenders are off until Tuesday, when they travel to Westchester to face the Knicks at 4:00 p.m. PT.
