Stamps Clinch First Place

The Calgary Stampeders have clinched first place in the Canadian Football League and have earned a bye into the Western Final.

With a 33-23 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Saturday night, the Stamps (13-2) secured a first place finish, not only in the Western Division but in the entire CFL.

This is the 18th time in franchise history the Stamps have finished first in their division and the fourth time in seven years under head coach and general manager John Hufnagel (2008, 2010, 2013, 2014). This is the sixth time in seven years that Coach Hufnagel's Stampeders have hosted a playoff game - either a Semi-Final or Final.

Calgary has finished first in their division 12 times in 25 seasons since 1990. By comparison, other division titles in that time span have included BC with seven, Edmonton with five and Saskatchewan with one.

The Stampeders will host the Western Final on Sunday, Nov. 23 against the winner of the Western Semi-Final, which will take place on Sunday, Nov. 16. Those two teams are yet to be determined.
