
Orlando City SC and New York City FC Take Part in MLS Expansion Priority Draft

NEW YORK (Wednesday, September 24, 2014) - Today, two of Major League Soccer's newest teams, Orlando City SC and New York City FC, took part in the MLS Expansion Priority Draft to determine priority order for the eight mechanisms available to acquire players, including the 2014 MLS Expansion Draft, Allocation Ranking, and 2015 MLS SuperDraft presented by Adidas, among others,
Orlando City SC, represented by head coach Adrian Heath, were awarded priority and chose to take the first pick in the 2014 MLS Expansion Draft, which will take place on December 10. New York City FC head coach Jason Kreis followed up by taking the first pick in the Allocation Ranking.
The full results follow, in order of selection by the head coaches:
- MLS Expansion Draft: Pick 1 goes to Orlando City SC, Pick 2 goes to New York City FC
- Allocation Ranking: Pick 1 goes to New York City FC, Pick 2 goes to Orlando City SC
- 2015 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas: Pick 1 goes to Orlando City SC, Pick 2 goes to New York City FC
- Discovery Ranking: Pick 20 goes to New York City FC, Pick 21 goes to Orlando City SC
- USL PRO/NASL Player Priority Ranking: Pick 1 goes to Orlando City SC, Pick 2 goes to New York City FC
- Waiver/Re-Entry Draft Ranking: Pick 20 goes to New York City FC, Pick 21 goes to Orlando City SC
- Lottery Ranking: Pick 20 goes to Orlando City SC, Pick 21 goes to New York City FC
- Designated Player Ranking: Pick 1 goes to New York City FC, Pick 2 goes to Orlando City SC
