Nebraska Danger News Release

GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA - The Nebraska Danger Indoor Professional Football Team has added three new players and re-signed standout kick returner Marcus Barnett to the 2014 squad. Danger Head Coach Mike Davis is also excited to announce the signing of new additions Troy Evans, Jacob Payne and Trevis Turner.

"We are excited to get Marcus back on the team with us," Davis said. "And, these new guys will bring a lot to the table. Troy has proved himself in this league and Jacob has a great chance to battle for time at receiver as well. Trevis is a nice addition to our offensive line as well."

Evans, who played collegiately at Marshall, was named to the all-IFL first-team offense last season while playing receiver and kick returner for Wyoming. He led the league in all-purpose yards (1,703) and receptions (79) while scoring 17 touchdowns for the Calvary.

Evans will join Barnett, who had 33 grabs last year, Andre Piper-Jordan and all-IFL receiver Kayne Farquharson to form one of the most talented receiving groups in in the league. Barnett, who played in just nine games for Nebraska last year after battling an injury, was sixth in the league in kick returns in 2013. He started the Danger season with a 58-yard touchdown return in the season opener against Sioux Falls.

"Obviously, we really like where we are with our receivers at this point," Davis said. "It's such a big part of the game in this league to have guys you can count on. With Kayne, Andre and Marcus back, that is a plus, and to add the guys we have, it's going to be a pretty good battle in training camp."

Payne, a Detroit native, played professionally this fall in an outdoor league in Brazil and was named an all-league receiver for the Jaguar Breakers.

Turner, at 6'7" and 324 pounds, comes to Nebraska with a wealth of indoor experience. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2011 and was with the team until the summer of 2012. Last year, he played for the AFL's Jacksonville Sharks and started six games.

"We think both Jacob and Trevis have a great chance to make our final roster," Davis said. "They'll provide great competition for us in camp."

The Danger, named the 2013 IFL Franchise of the Year following their 2013 run to the United Bowl, will begin the 2014 season on Monday, February 10 with a home-opener game versus the Lincoln Haymakers. Kickoff is set for 7 pm at the Heartland Events Center in Grand Island.
